Staff 09-10 Summer Season.
Go Ride a Wave is a national based learn to surf and outdoor adventure business. Each season our company seeks highly motivated casual instructors to teach basic skills to all our clients. We are looking for staff to start in late October.
You do not have to be a guru in your abilities, but we are looking for people who can display competent skills and feel confident in speaking in front of groups.
Our programs are located in Ocean Grove, Torquay, Anglesea, Lorne in Victoria and Surfers Paradise and Noosa in Queensland.
The majority of our client base is drawn from schools however we also have many corporate groups, community, sporting and women’s groups. We also provide Learn to Surf classes and general surf hire for the general public.
The activities we offer are: Surfing, Sit on Top Kayaking (surf and river), Body boarding, Surf Life Saving programmes and Team Building Courses.
Minimum qualifications and requirements:
Level 2 First Aid
Surf Bronze Medallion
Advance Resuscitation Certificate (ARC)
Attend staff training
Be able to swim 400m under 7.30min (tested)
* It is preferred that applicants already have these qualifications but if not Go Ride a Wave can assist you in getting them.
Levels of Instructors
Within Go Ride a Wave we have a structure of instructors. Each level has different requirements and wage levels. The aim is to get to the instructor in charge level.
Assistant: entry level where instructors have the minimum requirements. Must have a senior or instructor in charge with them on lessons
Senior: These instructors have additional qualifications (eg Level 1 or 2 ASA surf coach award). To become a senior you must be experienced in teaching with Go Ride a Wave and be assessed to achieve this level.
Instructor in charge: have the same qualifications as a senior instructor but is more experienced. The instructor in charge organises all the equipment before and after the lesson, is the leader of your team and is responsible for everything that happens in your lesson.
Wages
Assistant Instructor: $20 per hour
Senior Instructor: $22 per hour
Instructor in charge: $22 per hour (works extra time)
Being a national based company employment may give you the opportunity to work in other states or gain more permanent work in the future.
